The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to begin their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look unsuited, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team understands precisely where to head next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could help the group enter areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This means them little choice but to travel to Timmony in search of the traitor.
